Las Cruces Multimedia Journalist
Posting Date: August 24, 2011 Location: New Mexico Mobile Newsroom (Las Cruces, NM) Position: Las Cruces Multimedia Journalist
This is a general assignment reporting position for an aggressive enterprising multimedia journalist who?s eager to hone his or her storytelling and technical skills. It is not your typical bureau experience. One or two years of experience is preferred, but not a must, as we?re looking for motivated and bright professionals.
This person will live and work in the Las Cruces side of the El Paso/Las Cruces market as part of our New Mexico Mobile Newsroom. Las Cruces — the state?s second largest city and home to New Mexico State University, a Division I university — has around 85,000 residents in a county of 210,000. The county you?ll be covering is bigger than some TV markets. The city is roughly 40 miles north of El Paso.
You?ll be teamed with our former chief photographer, who grew up in Las Cruces, has 25+ years of experience, knows EVERYBODY in town, and fights fiercely to have the best product he can on the air every single day.
Expect to be live in our 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. You will be expected to shoot, edit on Final Cut Pro and learn how to microwave or FTP video back to the station. If our photographer is tied up with one story, you go get another. We want you to be ready to cover NMSU sports when the Aggies have a home game, and that will likely mean a Tuesday-Saturday schedule.
El hablar espaol es, sin duda, de gran beneficio para periodistas en esta region. Being bilingual is not mandatory, but can give you an edge in this part of the country.
Please send a cover letter explaining why you?re the one we should hire, your rsum, salary requirement and a link to your demo: Brenda De Anda-Swann News Director KVIA-TV andkvia@yahoo.com If you prefer to mail a DVD, the address is: 4140 Rio Bravo El Paso, TX 79902 Good luck!
