Investigators: Man Involved In Weekend Crash Dies
El Paso Sheriff’s officials tell ABC-7 the 25-year-old man involved in an early morning crash Saturday in far east El Paso has died.
Investigators said the victim, Ryan Lee Herrera, was driving with his girlfriend near the 13200 block of Pellicano Drive when he lost control of the car.
The vehicle then slid sideways through oncoming traffic and off the road into a desert area, according to authorities.
The vehicle rolled over several times, ejecting Herrera more than 50 feet from where the car came to a rest, police said.
He was taken to Del Sol Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
Herrera’s girlfriend, investigators said, was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. She was identified as 19-year-old Hasabna Leyva.
Authorities said speed and alcohol are possible factors in the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
