Vinton Celebrates 50 Years

Families, food and live music.

Residents in Vinton gathered Saturday afternoon to celebrate the village’s 50th anniversary.

Juvencia Rios-Ontiveros, the mayor pro temp of Vinton tells ABC-7 about twenty families volunteered and paid for the expenses for the food and entertainment.

She said it’s a sign of just how close-knit the community really is.

“We want to keep it as traditional as we can as one big happy family here in Vinton,” said Rios-Ontiveros.

Vinton was incorporated in 1961 and nearly two-thousand people reside in the two square miles of the village.

Residents now look forward to the next fifty years.

“More people are coming in and getting involved and we hope to have a wonderful future and see infrastructure,” said Rios-Ontiveros.
