UTEP Marching Miners Primed For State Competition

The UTEP Marching Miners prepare to bring the noise at the University Interscholastic League Texas State Marching Band Championships in November.

Band Director, T. Andre Feagin shares his excitement about the upcoming football season. There is no football environment without that great miner spirit coming from this band,” exclaimed Feagin.

He says the Marching Miners are ready to give it their all at the Texas Championships and show off for the Sun City.

“Knowing that they represent so much more than themselves, that they represent a university with 23,000 plus students, that we represent a community,” said Feagin.

He hopes the judges will recognize the big sound from a place some people think is a small town. “It’s not a place in West Texas that’s not doing anything,” insisted Feagin. “This is a leader in this activity in the country.”

When the Sound of the Southwest is home, Feagin said he hopes more fans will think twice about hitting up the concession stands at halftime.

He wants people stick around and watching the band before they go and grab a snack.

“If there’s anyone still not sure if whether they should get a hot dog, I suggest that they really take a take a look and take a listen at what we have become over the past two years,” he said.

The UIL Championships will be held November 7th and 8th in San Antonio.
