A wind advisory will take effect at 4 this afternoon and last through the overnight hours. Peak wind gusts could reach 45-50 mph along the western slopes of the area mountains.
This front is the leading edge of a potential winter storm that will affect the Borderland this weekend.
Temperatures will only warm up into the 50s for Friday and Saturday and lows will stay in the mid 30s.
As of right now, it appears that El Paso and Las Cruces will only receive rain on Saturday. The best opportunity for snow will stay in the Gila Wilderness, the Southern Sacramento Mountains, and far northern portions of the viewing area.
