UTEP Women Look To Extend Winning Streak

The University of Texas at El Paso Women’s Basketball team is off to its best start in program history with an 8-0 record. The team’s latest win was Saturday at the University of New Mexico, 53-43. It’s only the fourth time the UTEP women have won in The Pit, and the first time since the 1994-95 season the Miner women have beat the Lobos on the road.

The undefeated team is only one of 11 NCAA Division I women’s teams, and ranks in the top 50 for many team stats.

Coach Keitha Adams, who’s entering her 11th season as the head basketball coach, brushes off the praise.

“There’s a lot of work to be done. We’ve got to get better,” she told ABC-7 prior to the Miners’ win in Albuquerque. “Right now there’s nothing that we accomplished. We’re just trying to improve and each day get better.”

Tuesday night, the team looks to extend its winning streak against Northern Colorado. It’s been six seasons since the Miners have played the Bears, and their series is tied at three.

The teams face off in the Don Haskins Center. Tip off is at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children.
