Las Cruces Teen Charged With Battery, Kidnapping

Police in Las Cruces say they’ve arrested a man who allegedly physically assaulted, then abducted his ex-girlfriend on New Year’s Day.

Officials tell ABC-7 that 19-year-old Israel Samuel Jasso, of the 2500 block of Primavera Street, is charged with one count of kidnapping and battery against a household member.

According to Las Cruces Police Detectives, Jasso drove to his ex-girlfriend’s home around 3 o’clock New Year’s Day and demanded that she meet him outside. When the 18-year-old woman went outside, Jasso grabbed and forced her into his vehicle, then drove off with the woman.

Police say that as Jasso drove toward Young Park, he struck the woman repeatedly causing visible bruises to her head. LCPD officials say that after a short while, Jasso drove back to the woman’s home and let her go. Officials add that the woman’s injuries were relatively minor.

Officers found and arrested Jasso on Sunday afternoon. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a cash-only bond set at $20,000.
