Beer (And Chips) Run Leads To Several Arrests
A group of teenagers entered an East Side 7-Eleven and tried to steal beer and chips before fleeing, police said.
The attempted beer-and-chips run occurred about 1 a.m. Wednesday at the 7-Eleven located at 850 N. Zaragoza Road.
Police said 18-year-old Francisco Castro, 17-year-old Celia Hernandez and a juvenile girl put a bag of chips, a six-pack of beer and two cans of beer in Hernandez’s purse before being approached by store employees.
The trio ran out of the store and got into a car being driven by 18-year-old Eduardo Talamantes, police said. However, the employees were able to retrieve the purse and the stolen items.
Police were able to locate the teens a short distance away.
Talamantes, of the 4600 block of Atlas Drive, was arrested on suspicion of theft under $50 and booked into the El Paso County Jail with bond was set at $250.
Castro, of the 9500 block of Dyer Street, was also arrested on suspicion of theft under $50. Police said he had a previous conviction for theft. He was booked with bond set at $500.
Due to a medical condition, Hernandez, of the 9100 block of Butternut Street, was not booked until Thursday morning. She was charged with theft under $50, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana under two ounces. Her bond was set at $659. Police said they they found pot and paraphernalia in her purse.
The juvenile girl was arrested on suspicion of theft under $50. She was taken to the Juvenile Probation Department.
