TX RANGER: DRUGS FOUND AT TROOPER CRASH SITE

Surprising new details are revealed in documents obtained exclusively by ABC7, surrounding the death of Texas State Trooper Javier Arana, Jr.

According to a search warrant affidavit dated March 24, written hours after Arana was killed, investigators were able to obtain narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia, incriminating statements and two video tapes from the crash site.

Texas Ranger Valentin Ceniceros authored the affidavit, requesting authorization for him and other officers to search the home and property of Eduardo Flores,18, and arrest Flores for manslaughter.

Trooper Arana was killed in a fiery crash when DPS officials say a Ford Ranger driven by Flores, ran a red light at the intersection of Joe Battle Blvd. and Bob Hope Dr.

Officials would not disclose how the DPS conclusion was reached at that time.

The affidavit states that Flores admitted to Ranger Ceniceros that ?he was trying to beat the red light? because he was ?in a hurry to get home.?

The passenger in the pickup truck, Josue Guerrero, 21, contradicts Flores? alleged statement. According to the affidavit, Guerrero says the pair was on its way to a party.

The search warrant states a ?small plastic bag containing Marihuana was located at the collision site along with broken pieces of a glass smoking pipe.? There is no definitive answer as to whose they are.

Auotopsy and toxicology reports obtained by ABC7 show no drugs present in Trooper Arana?s body.

Charges have still not been filed in the case.

?Once the final investigation is complete, the public will know of the charges against the driver of the pickup truck,? Trooper Elizabeth Barney said.
