One Man Dead Following Motorcycle Accident

One man is dead following a wreck that occurred around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

An investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer was in the south bound lanes of Lee Trevino and turning right into the Wienerschnitzel parking lot when a motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Lee Trevino crossed into the truck’s path.

Police said the driver of the motorcycle, only described as a 25-year-old man, didn’t stop or change lanes and collided with the tractor-trailer at the intersection. The man and his motorcycle slid under the tractor-trailer and was struck by a rear tire and killed.

Police told ABC-7 at the scene that the driver of the motorcycle was seen leaving the parking lot of a bar. Investigators are still determining whether speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

Witnesses said the motorcycle was “all over the road” before the wreck.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

This is the 17th person killed on the roads in the City of El Paso as compared to 23 in 2011. This is also the fifth fatality involving a motorcyclist as compared to two at this time last year.
