Teenage Girl Killed After Falling Out Of Moving Car

18-year-old Thayry Roldan fell out of a moving vehicle and was killed Wednesday morning.

El Paso Police said Thayry, who was a passenger in an SUV, opened the front right passenger door and fell out of the vehicle onto the roadway and died at 4:14 a.m. near the 4900 block of N. Desert.

Sabina Roldan said when she first heard that her granddaughter Thayry died, she told police, “‘Why not me? I’m already old, so who cares? But not my daughter, because her son really needs her.'”

Thayry leaves behind a baby boy, Omar Aguilar, who will turn two years old in August.

Sabina said she was Thayry’s legal guardian and raised her like a daughter, because Thayry’s biological mother is in Juarez, Mexico, and unable to live in the United States.

Sabina said she suspects foul play.

“I asked the policeman, ‘What are they going to do with (the driver)? They must detain him while we find out what happened.’ I won’t have any sleep, because what if he pushed her out to kill her, or something,” said Sabina.

Police said they believe the woman may have opened the door because she was going to be sick.

Investigators said speed is not believed to be a contributing factor but alcohol is considered a factor.

The 22-year-old driver of the SUV was detained and later released.

No charges have been filed at this time, but Sabina told ABC7 she plans to press charges against the driver.

“Police told me it was up to me to decide if I wanted to press charges against (the driver) if I believe (he was at fault),” said Sabina.

“I don’t think she just got drunk and fell out of the car,” said Thayry’s former boss, Jenna Martinez.

Martinez owns Sun Kiss Gogos, where Thayry had worked as a dancer since January 2012. Martinez said they became fast friends and while she’s shaken, Martinez remains skeptical about the events leading up to Thayry’s sudden death.

“There are a lot of possibilities with what happened,” said Martinez. “I don’t know. It just doesn’t sit will with me.”
