Animal Services Seeks Person Who Put Chain Around Dog’s Neck
The City of El Paso’s Animal Services is requesting the public?s help in finding the person or people responsible for putting a chain around the neck of a black mix Terrier.
The dog was found on May 13 when officers responded to a call that several dogs were running loose at a mobile home park along the 4500 block of Vulcan. Animal Services officials said the chain was so tight around the dog’s neck that the skin started to grow around it and caused severe injury.
The dog is under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Anyone with information about this case should call Animal Services at (915) 842-1000.
Animal Services discourages pet owners from using chains as pet collars and reminds them to routinely check and if necessary loosen the pet?s collar. If it?s too tight, the collar can pierce the skin causing it to grow around the collar. This can lead to an infection and/or injury. A tight collar around an animal?s neck is also a form of animal cruelty, which can lead to criminal charges, according to Animal Services officials.
