El Paso Electric’s Interim CEO Now Permanent CEO
The El Paso Electric Company (EPE) Board of Directors on Thursday announced that Thomas V. Shockley has been appointed the Company’s permanent CEO.
Shockley has been serving as interim CEO since the resignation of David W. Stevens.
In making the announcement, Kenneth Heitz, Chairman of the Board said in a statement, “Under Tom’s leadership over the past few months, the Company has made significant progress in a number of areas including positioning the Company to play a leading role in supporting future economic growth in the region. We look forward to Tom’s continued leadership for the benefit of our customers, communities, employees and shareholders.”
Shockley brings over 35 years of experience in the utility industry to EPE. He was formerly Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of American Electric Power (AEP) Company, one of the largest electric utilities in the country, and has been a member of EPE’s Board of Directors since 2010. He also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Central and South West Corporation, which is now part of AEP.

El Paso Electric is a regional electric utility providing generation, transmission and distribution service to approximately 380,000 retail and wholesale customers in a 10,000 square mile area of the Rio Grande valley in west Texas and southern New Mexico. With approximately 1,000 employees, El Paso Electric is one of the largest employers in the City of El Paso.
