Pass New STAAR Test Getting Half The Questions Right
Passing a test by getting less than half the questions right?
That’s the problem some are having with Texas’ new STAAR exam.
Test standards have started out lower this year, and will be increased through 2016. Officials said it’s to allow students to get used to the newer, more difficult exam.
Currently, freshmen taking the algebra one and biology portions of the test can pass by getting only 20 out of 54 answers correct.
That’s a 37 percent score. State law requires students pass 15 of the tests throughout high school in order to graduate.
