Identities of 2 shot to death in Socorro released

El Paso County Sheriff’s officials have released the names of the two men who were shot and killed Wednesday in Socorro, Texas.

They have been identified as Fierro, Luis Antonio Fierro, 32, and Roberto Renteria, 19.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation. Socorro spokesman Dave Garcia on Wednesday night said two Hispanic men were found dead from gunshot wounds near a canal about a mile from the intersection of Apodanca and Winn.

According to Garcia, witnesses told police they heard six gunshots between 4:30 and 5:30 pm. Police arrived on the scene around 7:30 pm.

Socorro Police officers, along with U.S. Border Protection officers, secured a wide swath of land surrounding the crime scene Wednesday.

Law enforcement are still searching for a suspect who is described as a thin white man with light hair driving a white Chevy pickup truck. He was last seen around the 9000 block of Apodaca around 6 p.m.
