Two Socorro Council Members Resign
Two City of Socorro’s Council members resign at a special meeting Saturday evening.
Guillermo “Willie” Madrid and Jesus “Jessie” Gandara read their resignations aloud to a room full of the people.
The announcement comes after a week of mounting pressure from constituents, an unfavorable opinion by the Texas Attorney General, the notice that District Attorney Jaime Esparsa is petitioning a court to rule on the council’s decision to retain members in their seats after their terms have expired.
