Tanker Fire

Officials blocked off a portion of U.S. 54 after a tanker truck caught fire. It happened at around one a.m. on Monday morning. No injuries were reported from the fire and fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze before the fuel the truck was carrying exploded. Traffic was detoured for several hours and drivers heading towards Alamogordo was forced to exit at McCombs.
