Carport fire forces Anthony NM family out of their home

A family from Anthony, NM is without a place to stay after a fire ripped through their carport Monday night.

The incident happened just after 10:30 p.m. on the 5300 block of Mace Street, which is off of the 1400 block of Lincoln Street. The fire captain at the scene told us that the fire started in the back of the home, severely damaging the carport, four vehicles, and two motorcycles. The rear of the home was also damaged.

Fire crews feared windy conditions would help the fire spread, so the family was evacuated as well as neighbors on both sides of the home.

We are told that the family is staying with relatives and that the fire is still under investigation.
