Javelina chase in Horizon City caught on cam

A four-legged fugitive gave Horizon City Police a run for their money Thursday.

A javelina led multiple officers on a chase Thursday, and the incident was captured on video.

The three-minute clip produced by SigFilmsPhoto starts off with the words COPS, a tip to the popular TV show, and displays the officers’ best efforts to round up the peccary to the tune of techno music.

Horizon City Police sergeant Jesus Ortega told ABC-7 a homeowner near Rodman and Desert Marigold streets reported an animal wandering in and out of the backyard gates.

Parents of children playing nearby also called Horizon city police. Initially, three officers were dispatched, but then backup arrived.

Officers are seen trying to corral the wild boar in a backyard, but the animal scurries away multiple times and flees to another house.

Animal Control officers arrived and used a catch pole to immobilize the animal, which then displayed its tusks.

“The goal was to protect the community and not harm the animal,” Sgt. Ortega said.
