Leeser, Ortega headed to runoff for El Paso mayor

Oscar Leeser and Steve Ortega were the top two candidates in a crowded race for mayor and will head to a runoff in mid-June.

Leeser had 21,724 votes or 47 percent while Ortega had 9,944 votes or 22 percent of the vote.

“At this point no (comment), we are still going over the numbers,” Ortega said in a text to ABC-7 regarding early voting.

Leeser apparently got early voting results while driving: “I almost drove off the road,” he told ABC-7.
