Council votes “Tripper” Goodman out of Downtown Management District
In a surprising move, City Council voted well-known El Pasoan Leonard “Tripper” Goodman off the Downtown Management Board of Directors.
Goodman is known for his role in promoting the recent quality of life bonds. He was named “El Pasoan of the Year” by the El Paso Inc. newspaper back in January.
Goodman is also chairman of the Paso del Norte group, a civic organization that promotes borderland policy initiatives like the Medical Center of the Americas.
Council initially approved Goodman 7-to-2 earlier in the meeting, but took a vote to reconsider, after Ann Morgan Lilly excused herself.Lily Limon, Carl Robinson, Eddie Holguin and Emma Acosta then voted 4-3 to remove Goodman.
ABC-7 asked Limon why she made the motion. She said she wanted to vote on the individual members because it was a personal issue.
ABC-7 reached out to Ann Morgan Lily about the vote. She told us she’s disappointed. And when she left to attend a medical emergency, the rest of council knew the vote count would change.
