El Paso Police officer hit

After responding to a call, El Paso Police said one of their officers was hit by a car Saturday night.

Police said the call routed Officer Mark Gall, 25, to the 800 block of Montera. He then found a man who he thought was involved in the report, sitting in his car. Police said when the cop approached the man in the car, he drove off, hitting him in the process.

A high-speed chase took the suspect all the way to Fabens, where state troopers laid out spike strips to bring the chase to an end.

Edgar Rico, 24, has been charged with assault on a family member and assault on a public servant. He’s being held on a nearly $60,000 bond.

Gall said he’s completely recovered from the crash, with no serious injuries.
