Farrey family in custody; youngest still missing
Authorities and red police tape surrounded the home of the Farrey family Tuesday afternoon in West El Paso.
Police detectives, military personnel and other plain-clothed investigators closed off the street and searched the home on the 7300 block of Cerro Negro after the family had been reported missing but were found during the weekend in a motel in Michigan.
Jenna Farrey is awaiting an extradition trial. According to court documents obtained by ABC-7, an El Paso judge issued a warrant for Jenna Farrey’s arrest Monday for violation of probation. Thedocuments state she was currently serving five years probation for child abandonment after being convicted of leaving her then 3-month-old son Blake alone for eight hours last year while she went to Elephant Butte Lake.
Jeffrey Farrey, 22, an Army specialist at Fort Bliss is in custody on a military hold.
The Farreys were reported missing Friday after Jeffrey Farrey didn’t report for duty. His squad leader went to their home and found a suspicious letter, prompting him to call police.
El Paso police confirmed Monday they found the Farrey couple about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at the Eagles Nest Motel in Escanaba, Mich. Jeffrey Farrey, 22, and his wife, Jenna, 20, are now being extradited back to El Paso. Their 19-month-old baby Blake is in the custody of Child Protective Services. The 5-month-old baby Jackson is still missing.
