Missing El Paso family was found alive in Mich.; 5-month-old still missing

Nov. 18 Update:

The missing West Side family was found at the Eagles Nest motel in Escanaba, Michigan, according to the Escanaba Department of Public Safety.

El Paso Police Department contacted Public Safety requesting the assistance after learning the family may be in the Escanaba area. Officers responded as requested and did locate Jeffrey, Jenna, and 19 month old Blake Farrey, along with the family”s vehicle at the Eagles Nest. Still missing is 5 month old Jackson Farrey.

Jeffrey and Jenna Farrey were taken into custody, lodged and are pending extradition to El Paso. Blake Farrey was placed in the care of Child Protective Services.

Escanaba Public Safety continues to assist the El Paso Texas Police Department with the investigation.

Nov. 17 UPDATE: El Paso Police confirmed they found three of the four members of the Farrey family outside of the state of Texas, though their 5-month-old baby is missing. Detectives found the family at a motel “in the continental United States) but did not give other details because of the sensitive nature of the investigation.

POSTED Saturday 11/16/2013: El Paso Police are continuing to look for a West Side family that mysteriously disappeared and is believed to be in danger.

Police have released few details on the young couple and their two baby boys.

Walking up to the Farrey family’s home on the West Side it looks like a typical Saturday night. You see a normal house in the suburbs with the lights on, a car in the driveway, and cups still on a porch table. A garage sale sign leans against the fence.

“I’ve seen them just recently,” said one neighbor. “They moved in about a month ago. They seem like normal, nice people.”

But if you look down the street, an El Paso Police officer sits in a patrol car, areminder that the investigations continues this weekend in the case of a family that mysteriously vanished.

“There were two or three police cars and two of the trucks from animal control here,”said one neighbor.

It was Friday when El Paso police discovered 22-year-old Jeffrey Farrey, his 20-year-old wife Jenna Farrey and their two children – 19-month-old Blake and 6-month old Jackson, were gone.

Police say a dark-colored Dodge Charger, and their dog was missing too — which doesn’t add up to what nearby neighbor Jack Ansely said he saw – two animal control trucks.

“There were no sirens or anything, no ambulance, no fire truck or anything else, which is why I thought it was a dog bite,” Ansley said. “Because there were two animal control trucks vehicles.”

The ABC-7 I-team discovered Jenna Farrey pleaded guilty to child endangerment in January. She didn’t serve prison time, though. Farrey has two videos on YouTube titled Army Wife Blog that talk about her life.

A Fort Bliss spokesman confirmed that Jeffrey is assigned to the 1 st Armored Division and missed formation Friday. Jeffrey didn’t respond to calls or texts by others in his squad and when his squad leader went to his home to check on him.

The Army spokesman said no one would open the door so the squad leader called the landlord to gain entry into the home.

Once inside the home, the squad leader found something which led him to call El Paso Police. What remains the biggest mystery, and the information police won’t release, is why police said the family could be in danger, and why the Crimes Against Persons unit, a section of the police department which deals mainly in kidnappings and murders, has taken on the case.

Police are asking people to call them if they know any information about the Farrey family’s whereabouts.
