Thunderbirds to headline 2014 Amigo Airsho in Santa Teresa, NM
The Amigo Airsho will be held on Nov. 1-2, 2014 and will be headlined by the Air Force Thunderbirds.
This will be the first full-scale Amigo Airsho at the Dona Ana County Airport at Santa Teresa. The Amigo Airsho had its program for children at the Santa Teresa airport this year but that was it.
“The 2014 show will be the Airsho’s debut in a new venue and the scheduling during the first weekend of November is also a first for us,” said Roxie Samaniego, Amigo Airsho Board President. “Bringing the Thunderbirds back as headliners is a thrill.”
The Thunderbirds last performed at the Amigo Airsho in 2012. The Thunderbirds perform about 40 maneuvers during their aerial demonstrations, varying between formation flying and solo routines.
“Now that we’re locked in on our dates, our team can start putting the large components of logistics in place,” commented Amigo Airsho CEO, Pancho Mangan. “Securing the Thunderbirds is tremendous for our organization and we look forward to a successful show in 2014.”
The Amigo Airsho was held at Biggs Army Airfield for 31 years. Federal budget cuts from the sequestration forced the Airsho to leave Biggs Army Airfield.
The organization signed a five year deal to have the Amigo Airsho at the Santa Teresa airport.
