Young woman gives birth at El Paso border port of entry
Customs officials say a 17-year-old U.S. citizen gave birth to a baby boy on Thanksgiving Day with the help of Customs and Border Protection agents at a West Texas port of entry.
The young woman arrived just after 5 a.m. to the port of entry and requested the officers there to contact an ambulance because she was about to go into labor, Customs and Border Protection said in a statement Monday.
While waiting for the ambulance, the labor began and within minutes a boy was born with the assistance of agents. The officers wrapped the baby with their jackets and blankets while waiting for EMS to arrive.
Several minutes later, the teen and her baby were transported to a hospital for observation.
