Double homicide suspect wanted in Dallas surrenders at El Paso international bridge

U.S. marshals say a man wanted in the 2007 slayings of a Dallas couple has been arrested at a West Texas border crossing.

In a statement Tuesday, the U.S. Marshals Service says Customs and Border Protection officers arrested 35-year-old Nicolas Monarrez late last week at an El Paso crossing.

Dallas police wanted Monarrez as a suspect in the abduction, torturing and killing of Luis Campos and his pregnant 18-year-old girlfriend, Linoshka Torres. Police say they were killed after Monarrez was told that Campos had stolen some $40,000 in drugs and cash from him.

Two other men have been arrested elsewhere in the deaths.

Monarrez is at the El Paso County Jail awaiting transfer to Dallas County. No attorney is listed on his jail booking sheet.
