Downtown Artist and Farmers Market generates $2.4 million annually

If you’ve ever been to the Downtown Artist and Farmers Market, you’re doing more than just buying fresh fruits and vegetables.

A survey was conducted by market partner La Semilla Food Center located in Anthony, New Mexico. It found that based on overall attendance and vendor participation, the economic impact of the weekly event is $2.4 million annually for the El Paso Economy.

“When you spend money here in El Paso and you support local artist and growers you see the return immediately and you help support a vibrant culture downtown,” market coordinator Rebecca Muoz said.

The Artist and Farmers Market, 117 Anthony Street, is open every Saturday year-round from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Businesses in the Union Plaza District say their strongest sales are during market hours, according to the study. Some of the Downtown Artist and Farmers Market vendors also accept the Lone Star Card.
