Founder of El Paso Holocaust Museum Dies
Holocaust survivor and founder of the El Paso Holocaust Museum died early Thursday morning.
Henry Kellen died of natural causes at age 98, and he leaves behind a legacy and a story to inspire others.
Kellen survived the Holocaust by hiding with his wife and young nephew with the help of a Lithuanian farmer for the remainder of the war.
Although Kellen has died, Holocaust Museum Director Lori Shepard said she and others will continue to follow in his footsteps and keep his vision alive.
“We are doing exactly what Henry set out for us to do which is to make sure that no one forgets that this happened, and that hopefully wont happen again,” She said.
Former ABC-7 anchor and friend of Kellen, Gary Warner, said Kellen was the driving force behind the museum and it would not have been completed without him.
A memorial service for Kellen will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Congregation B’nai Zion and anyone is welcome to attend.
