Pedestrian dies after being struck by Dona Ana Sheriff’s deputy car

A woman was hit by a Dona Ana County Sheriff’s deputy patrol car Tuesday night and later died at the hospital.

ABC-7 has confirmed with New Mexico State Police that her name is Natividad Nunez. She was 44 years old.

State police say the deputy, whose name has not been released, hit Nunez with her patrol car at about 8 p.m. along N.M. 192 near Sequoia Street in Mesquite, New Mexico.

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s officials say the deputy was responding to an emergency call at the time of the accident.

The deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation’s outcome.

New Mexico State Police investigators will report their findings to the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
