Thousands attend Greater El Paso Festival of Hope
Evangelical Pastor Franklin Graham is in the borderland for the Festival of Hope and thousands of El Pasoans filled the UTEP campus to hear the preacher speak Saturday.
Once the gates opened Saturday afternoon, people couldn’t wait to hear christian bands, eat some snacks, mingle and ultimately worship.
The Greater El Paso Festival of Hope is an Evangelistic festival led by Franklin Graham, the son of the better-known preacher Billy Graham. He’s also the president of the Billy Graham Evangelical Association.
“We’re just looking forward to great things happening tonight for the people of El Paso and for the hearts that live here,” a woman who only gave the name of Sandra said.
The event continues Sunday, but in its original planned location, the Don Haskins Center. Admission is free.
Most people we spoke with knew who they were there to see, while some only thought they knew the men behind the message, Franklin and Billy Graham.
Doors for the Festival of Hope at the Don Haskins Center tomorrow open at 4:30 p.m., with the event expected to be fully kicked off by 6 p.m. El Paso-based Mariachi Isai is one of six musical guests on Sunday.
