Update: El Paso Police capture man who escaped custody Downtown
Late morning April 16 Update: El Paso Police say the man has been caught and that more details will be released later.
Early morning April 16 Story: El Paso police and Sheriff’s deputies are currently searching the downtown area for a man that escaped while being taken into the downtown jail.
The incident began around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Officers are searching downtown streets in south El Paso and along the Union Pacific railroad.
Police say the escapee has short light brown hair and has handcuffs dangling from one hand.
