La Union, Berino flood victims need cleaning, cooking supplies and shovels

Residents of La Union and Berino are requesting additional donations to help them recover from flooding that has devastated the rural Doa Ana County communities.
In addition to cleaning supplies and electric skillets, people in La Union and Berino are in need of shovels to help them relocate dirt and debris that washed onto their property.

The Doa Ana County Health and Human Services Department is accepting donations of shovels, bleach, disinfectant wipes, mops, detergent and electric skillets for distribution to homes that had water damage or where natural-gas service has been disrupted.

Donations can be dropped off at the main reception desk of the Doa Ana County Government Center at 845 N. Motel Blvd., in Las Cruces today, Sept. 20 before 5 p.m.

Weekend donations can be dropped off at the Parish Hall of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in La Union, or at the home of Doa Ana County Public Information Director Jess C. Williams at 518 N. Miranda St. in Las Cruces.

All donations will be distributed to residents in need.
