Las Cruces man arrested for manufacturing, possessing and distributing child pornography
A man accused of manufacturing, possessing and distributing child pornography is now behind bars.
Bradley Willt, 34, lived close to the New Mexico State University campus on the 1800 block of Wyoming Avenue. He was taken into custody at Country Crest Apartments.
Neighbors ABC-7 spoke with Wednesday afternoon are still in complete shock that a man living among them is now accused of not only having child porn images but also of distributing them online.
“I think it’s disgusting,” Heather Bruch said.
When detectives arrived at Willt’s apartment Tuesday, they say they found 80 pictures of young girls, most around the ages of seven to eight partially or fully nude in his apartment.
“Nowadays with computers and the internet people can be anywhere and they can download these images unfortunately rather easily,” Las Cruces Police Department spokesman Dan Trujillo said. He added they’ve only seen a few similar child pornography cases in recent years in the city.
The department received a tip that Willt was using Twitter, under the handle webgremlin69, to distribute sexually explicit images.
Detectives traced the IP address back to WIllt’s residence and determined he was the only one who had access to the computer.
Police said they don’t think Willt had any inappropriate interaction with any children in the Las Cruces area. But if there are any out there, to please contact the department at by calling 575-526-0795 or e-mail clcpdtips@las-cruces.org.
Detectives do belive Willt communicated online with children under the age of 16 and engaged in sexually-explicit conversations with them.
Willt is being held at the Doa Ana County Detention Center. His bond has been set at $500,000 cash.
