Las Cruces Police arrest man they allege molested 11-year-old girl

Las Cruces Police have arrested a man they allege sexually penetrated an 11-year-old girl.

Rodrigo L. Escarsega, 38, is charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child under the age of 13. The charges are all first-degree felony counts.

According to police, on Oct. 12, the girl’s mother became suspicious of Escarsega after she returned home and discovered that her daughter had gained access to adult content on the family’s computer.

Police say the girl told her mother that Escarsega, who had known the family for at least five years, showed her pornographic videos in the past few weeks.

Las Cruces Police detectives investigated the allegations and found out that Escarsega had allegedly engaged in sexual activities with girl on several occasions while her mother was away from home.

Escarsega was arrested Saturday and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a cash-only bond set at $100,000.
