El Paso Code Compliance officer struck by vehicle has died

The Code Compliance officer that was struck by a vehicle on July 2 while he was on duty has died.

Robert Narro, who had been a Code Compliance officer since March 2012, was on the sidewalk conducting an investigation when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Rosendo Alvarado in the 8300 block of N. Loop when the car jumped the curb.

Alavardo has been charged with Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death

Before becoming a Code Compliance officer in March 2012, Narro worked with Environmental Service’s Collections Division as a solid waste truck driver.

He was hired for that position inApril 2007and promoted to lead solid waste truck driver inMarch 2011.

ESD Director Ellen Smyth has provided the statement below regarding Narro’s passing.

“Our hearts are heavy with sorrow at the loss of our Robert. The entire ESD familynot only grieves at the passing of a great individual but also for the loss his family suffers.Our prayers go out to Robert’s family and friends during this difficult and trying time.”
