Man, 75, struck and killed while crossing busy street in West El Paso

A 75-year-old man died after being being struck by a car Friday night in West El Paso.

Anselmo Muiz was trying to cross Mesa Street near Festival Drive when he was hit just before 10 p.m. Police said he was not at a cross walk.

He was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries, but later died.

The driver, 66-year-old Billy Kelly, immediately stopped and stayed at the scene of the crash. Investigators do not believe Kelly will face any charges.

This is the 28th traffic related death of 2014 compared with 27 at the same time in last year. This is also the 13th traffic-related pedestrian death this year compared with seven at the same time in 2013.
