Wisler Strong in Chihuahuas Win Sunday
The El Paso Chihuahuas won their second game in a row by one run on Sunday, defeating the Fresno Grizzlies 4-3. El Paso starter Matt Wisler pitched six innings and struck out seven, without walking a batter. In Wisler’s last 13 innings, he has struck out 13 and walked none.
Jake Goebbert went 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs Sunday and is now 6-for-7 with four RBIs in his two games since being optioned from San Diego on Saturday. Goebbert and Rymer Liriano had RBI singles in the bottom of the fifth to put El Paso ahead 4-2. Fresno’s Travis Ishikawa hit a home run onto Santa Fe Street in the sixth inning to get the Grizzlies within one, but neither team scored in the seventh, eighth or ninth innings.
The Chihuahuas have won two games in a row for the first time since July 13-17, when they took the last game before the all-star break and the first game after it. El Paso advanced to 12-5 in Sunday games and 18-13 in one-run games.
