Man arrested on variety of charges after hit and run collision

El Paso County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man on a slew of charges after he allegedly hit a vehicle and fled the scene Saturday evening.

Luis Vasquez reportedly hit a vehicle near the intersection of Doniphan Drive and Brooks Avenue around 8:50 p.m., officials said.

Vasquez fled the scene, and was stopped by Anthony Police Department officers on the 500 block of South Main, according to officials.

Vasquez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. It was his third DWI offense, which carries a $2,500 bond.

Vasquez was also arrested on a charge ofpossessionof a controlled substance, which carries a $1,500 bond. Officials said cocaine was found on Vasquez when he was searched.

Finally, Vasquez was booked for anoutstandingcriminal warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
