Alleged pit bull attack sends man to hospital

A pit bull allegedly attacked a 70 year-old man, sending him to the hospital.

One neighbor said many children were playing in the front yard of their home on the 7700 block of Hacienda, when the dog jumped the fence.

The pit bull then ran towards the children, and the older man, Carlos Ortega, protected them and tried to shoo the dog away.

The dog then jumped and bit the man in the neck. Medics took him to a nearby hospital to be treated for the wound.

One neighbor says he doesn’t know what made the dog snap.

“Like I said, we know the dog,” The neighbor said. “We’ve seen him a lot, we play with him and he played with my dogs. But like I said I don’t know what caused him to snap.”

Animal control showed up shortly after the incident and plan on taking custody on the animal. At this time, it is still unknown if the owners of the dog will be cited.
