New signage, updated storefronts coming to downtown El Paso
The revitalization of downtown includes updated storefronts and prominent advertising for what the Sun City has to offer.
Tuesday city reps unanimously passed two ordinances they think will change the face of the downtown entertainment and arts district.
The first was to continue investing in a Facade Improvement Program established in 2007. City leaders voted to add $100,000 to the program because its annual report, administered by the Downtown Management District, showed nine previous projects that received $177,000 in renovation grants turned into $9.2 million in private investments to improve downtown business fronts.
Council also agreed to allowing flexible sign standards for civic and cultural districts.
Both city leaders and members from the DMD say bringing the ballpark to downtown has helped bring new life to the area.
