Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour cancelled; tour was to include UTEP stop

With rehearsals already underway, the Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour has been cancelled.

The tour was to include a stop at UTEP’s Don Haskins Center on July 22.

No reason for the cancellation was given when the announcement was made on the tour’s website Friday.

“Options Clause Entertainment LLC, an affiliate of S2BN Entertainment, announced today the cancellation of the Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular Tour. The tour was scheduled to kick off in New Orleans on June 9. All purchased tickets will be refunded. Tickets purchased online and via telephone will be automatically refunded. Tickets purchased from outlets/venue box office must be returned to that location for refund,” according to the statement.

The main cast of five was eclectic.

Brandon Boyd,lead vocalist of rock band Incubus, was to play Judas Iscariot’, *NSYNC vocalist JC Chasez was to play ‘Pontius Pilate’, Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams was to play the female lead of ‘Mary Magdalene’, English singer-songwriter and lead singer in Public Image Ltd. (PiL) and Sex Pistols John Rotten Lydon was to play ‘King Herod’ and British actor and singer, Ben Forster, who won England’s ITV Superstar competition in 2012 and played the lead role in the UK and Australian arena tours of Jesus Christ Superstar, was to play ‘Jesus.’
