18-wheeler crashes on a slippery I-10 Friday morning

An 18-wheeler crashed on Interstate 10 and Paisano early Friday morning, just as the borderland started to get pounded by rain storms.

The crash happened at around 4 a.m. and reduced westbound traffic to one lane for a few hours.

It appears the semi-truck hit the far right side of the freeway and took out a concrete portion of I-10 before the front end of the truck fell onto Gateway West and Paisano.

Debris from the crash and chunks of concrete covered the street.

A tow truck driver who hauled the front end of the truck from the scene confirmed it belonged to the semi-truck on the freeway.

Emergency crews tell ABC-7 that nobody was taken to the hospital as a result of the crash. Police have not said whether the rainy weather was a factor.

The scene was cleared up just before 8 a.m.
