ABC-7 I-Team takes a closer look at Houde’s finances

ABC-7 reviewed income tax form and bankruptcy documents and learned there are multiple businesses bearing the Anamarc name: Anamarc College, Anamarc Enterprises and Anamarc Educational Institute. All filed for bankruptcy Aug. 7.

The filings say Anamarc Enterprises, Inc. has a gross income of 5.26 million so far for 2014 and lists the school’s creditors. Their largest unsecured claim is Anamarc students, who are owed just short of $900,000. When the list of the 20 largest unsecured claims is added up, the grand total is $1.74 million.

ABC-7 also found the Houdes own another company, Marcana Enterprises, Inc., the 2009 IRS tax form says it’s a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit. The organization ran a daycare at their Dyer Street campus, until it moved out in 2010.

Bankruptcy documents say Anamarc has 900 creditors and the Houes’ attorney argued it would be too expensive to notify them all so he asked that only some be notified. The judge said no.

A Creditos Meeting is schedule for 9 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Spectrum Building, 8201 Lockheed, Suite 135, El Paso, Texas, 79925.
