Fort Bliss Garrison Commander relieved of duty after investigation
Col. Thomas Munsey has been relieved of duty as Fort Bliss Garrison Commander following an investigation for alleged misconduct.
He was temporarily removed from his post earlier this month pending the outcome of the investigation.
Maj. Gen. Stephen Twitty, 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss Commander,
officially relieved Munsey of command on Friday “for a lack of trust and confidence in Munsey’s ability to command based on the results of the investigation.”
The exact allegations and details of the investigation will not be released due to the Privacy Act and Army policy, Fort bliss officials said.
Joseph Moscone, Fort Bliss Deputy to the Garrison Commander, will serve as the interim manager until the Department of the Army appoints a replacement for Col. Munsey.
Munsey was assigned to Fort Bliss June 20.
He was responsible for the development and maintenance of the post, its buildings and services.
