Longtime Bowie teacher dies in custody in Hudspeth County; was arrested for public intoxication

Longtime Bowie High School teacher Robert Enrique Flores died Tuesday while in custody in Hudspeth County.

Hudspeth County Sheriff’s officials say Flores was arrested for public intoxication earlier in the day.

The exact cause of death is unknown and further information is pending the results of an autopsy.

Flores had been an English teacher for 12 years and had been with the El Paso Independent School District for 20 years.

Counselors have been available to students and staff at the school.
