Thanksgiving Day, weekend; hours adjustment

Reminder of Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule for Collections, Landfill, and Drop-off Sites. In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 28, the City of El Paso Environmental Services Department is making the following changes to its trash and recyclables operations:

Trash & Recyclables Collections

– No collections Thanksgiving Day

– Residents with Thursday collections to have waste picked up Saturday, November 30

– No other collection days affected

Greater El Paso Landfill

– Closed Thanksgiving Day

– Open Friday, November 29 (regular hours)

Citizen Collection Stations

– Closed Thanksgiving Day

– Closed Friday, November 29

The Greater El Paso Landfill is located at 2300 Darrington Road and is normally open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Citizen Collection Stations are regularly open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Locations include 121 Atlantic Road, 4200 Delta Drive, 2492 Harrison Avenue, 4501 Hondo Pass Avenue, and 1034 Pendale Road.

El Paso City Hall will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2013 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. City Hall will resume regular business hours on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 7:00am.

El Paso Public Library adjusts schedule for Thanksgiving Week – November 19, 2013 – The El Paso Public Library system will change its hours of operation during the week of Thanksgiving. All branches will open 9 AM to 5 PM from Monday, November 25 to Wednesday, November 27, 2013. All branches will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 28 as well as Friday, November 29th. They will open on Saturday, November 30th from 9 AM to 5 PM. They will resume their regular schedules after that.

El Paso Parks and Recreation Holiday Schedule: Thanksgiving Schedule

– All Senior Centers, City – operated Daycare Centers, and the Administrative Office for the Parks and Recreation Department at City Hall will be closed on November 28th (Thanksgiving Day) and Friday, November 29, 2013.

Holiday hours for the indoor pools is attached. Outdoor pools are closed until summer.

Holiday Schedule for Sports Centers

Chalio Acosta (4321 Delta St.) and Nations Tobin (8831 Railroad Dr.):

Sports Centers will be closed on Thanksgiving Day (November 28th), open on Friday, November 29th, and closed on Saturday, November 30th and Sunday, December 1st.

Holiday Schedule for Recreation Centers only:

All Recreation Centers will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2013.

Carolina, Don Haskins, Gary Del Palacio, Multipurpose, and Pat O’Rourke Recreation Centers will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29th.

Nolan Richardson and San Juan Recreation Centers will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29th. All other Centers will be closed.

All Recreation Centers will have normal hours of operation on Saturday, November 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. except for Chihuahuita, Rae Gilmore, and Seville Recreation Centers which are closed on Saturdays.

All Recreation Centers are closed on Sundays.

El Paso Zoo Closed on Thanksgiving Day

As a reminder, the El Paso Zoo will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The El Paso Zoo will resume regular zoo hours on Friday, November 29 from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Ticket gate closes at 4 p.m.

The Zoo is open year-round and only closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Visit El Paso Visitor Information Center Thanksgiving Holiday Hours

Visit El Paso’s three Visitor Information Centers will operate on holiday hours from Wednesday, November 27, 2013-Friday, November 29. Holiday hours are as follows:

Downtown Visitor Information Center, located at 400 W. San Antonio Ave., 915-534-0661

Thanksgiving Day – CLOSED

Friday, November 29 – 10am-3pm

El Paso International Airport Visitor Information Center, 915-534-0658

Free Metered Parking on Thanksgiving Day

The City of El Paso International Bridges Department reminds the general public that all metered parking is free on Thanksgiving Day.

Metered parking is free on all City-recognized holidays, Sundays and special events approved by City Council. Parking at meters is also free on Saturdays in Downtown.

Normal operation rates will resume for metered parking on Friday, November 29.

Parking meters operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The meter parking fee is 25 cents for every 20 minutes.

In observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday, Thursday, Nov 28, administrative offices at Fort Bliss will be closed, except for emergency services, military police, security, and EMS.

The Exchange will be CLOSED and will reopen on Black Friday at 4a.m. to 10p.m., (doors open at 2a.m. for line-up); Black Saturday, open at 6a.m. to 10p.m. (doors open at 4a.m. for line-up).

The Commissary will be CLOSED, normal hours resume Friday.

HACEP Offices Closed Thanksgiving Day In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso, Texas (HACEP) will be closed Thursday, November 28, 2013. HACEP will resume regular business hours beginning Friday, November 29 at 8:00 a.m.

Standby maintenance crews will be on call 24 hours if an emergency should arise. Public housing residents may call the emergency work order line at 849-3743 for emergencies only. To report routine work orders, residents may call 849-3744 and work will commence during regular business hours.
