Some 2014 Chihuahuas players leave Padres system in free agency
Cody Decker will have to find a new teammate to prank.
Jeff Francoeur is now a member of the Philadelphia Phillies organization after signing a minor league contract with the Phillies on Nov. 13. Francoeur also received an invite to Phillies spring training camp.
Some other 2014 El Paso Chihuahuas players also have signed contracts with new Major League organizations.
Alex Castellanossigned a contract with the New York Mets on November 11th. Castellanos received an invite to Major League Spring Training. If he doesn’t make the Mets’ opening day roster, El Paso fans could see Castellanos as a visitor with the Mets’ Triple-A club, the Las Vegas 51s.
Donn Roachwas claimed on waivers by the Chicago Cubs and is now a member of their 40-man roster. Roach was designated for assignment by the Padres on November 3rd.
2014 Chihuahuas Who Are Free Agents:Brian Bixler, Travis Buck, Billy Buckner, Brooks Conrad, Jonathan Galvez, Tyler Greene, Jason Lane, Adam Moore, Michael Nix and Tim Sexton. A complete list of minor league free agents can be foundhere.
Affiliation Changes:The San Diego Padres organization changed its short-season affiliate. Padres’ players in the Northwest League will now suit up for the Tri-City Dust Devils in Pasco, Washington. San Diego’s previous short-season affiliate was the Eugene Emeralds.
There was also an affiliation shuffle in the Pacific Coast League. Here are the six new partnerships:
