Company hiring 200 in Las Cruces
This week New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela announce the creation of 200 new jobs at the General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) Las Cruces location. The company, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), will also be adding 20,000 square feet to its existing facility.
“As a leader in the aerospace, health care, and defense industries, we are excited that General Dynamics Information Technology chose Las Cruces as the site of its latest expansion,” said Governor Susana Martinez. “In addition to our efforts to develop a quality workforce, we’re also working to improve our tax environment to place New Mexico high on the list for expansions or relocations for job creators.”
The company is recruiting immediately to fill more than 200 full-time back-office support representative positions ranging from entry-level to management. The company will be conducting interviews daily until the end of January. Positions include back-office service representatives, supervisors, back-office managers, quality specialists, and trainers.
“The state Economic Development Department and Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance (MVEDA) have focused on growing New Mexico’s information technology sector, creating outstanding career opportunities and benefits for New Mexico families,” said Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela. “By making our state more competitive though business tax reductions, these jobs are growing in New Mexico.”
MVEDA originally recruited the GDIT operations into Las Cruces in July 2011 and is assisting the company in this current expansion. “General Dynamic’s recent decision to expand operations here in Las Cruces is indicative of the positive business environment that has been fostered both within the state of New Mexico and the city of Las Cruces over the past couple of years,” said Davin Lopez, president of MVEDA. “It also reflects the positive experiences they have had in recruiting and sustaining a strong and viable workforce.”
Candidates are encouraged to apply online via the General Dynamics Information Technology website at www.gdit.com/jobsearch, where they will find positions by selecting “New Mexico” in the location menu.
“We are excited to see that General Dynamics continues to grow in Las Cruces,” Mayor Ken Miyagishima. “Our city staff along with MVEDA has been working diligently with company representatives to ensure a seamless and timely process to their expansion so that opportunities for job creation continue to be a priority.”
Recruiters and hiring managers will also be on-site at General Dynamics Information Technology offices at 1630 Hickory Loop, Suite B, Las Cruces, to discuss current openings as well as applicants’ background and experience.
