El Paso Police identify motorcyclist killed in Thursday crash

El Paso Police have released the identity of the motorcyclist killed in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon.

He has been identified as 20-year-old Frank Powers of the 3200 block of Cork in El Paso.

Police say that Poweres was southbound on Lee Trevino on his 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle at 6:20 p.m. when a 2009 Ford Focus driven by 27-year-old Diana Baltazar was traveling north on Lee Trevino.

Baltazar attempted to turn left onto Yermoland and the two vehicles collided into each other in the intersection, causing Powers to be ejected from his motorcycle.

Powers, who died at the scene, was wearing a helmet and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash, according to police.

At this time no charges are pending.

This is the 49th traffic related death this year as compared to 55 at this time in 2012.
